Request for help with fundraising for the August Indymedia Convergence at AMARC conference in Accra, Ghana!

Locality:

Help is needed to raise travel costs for a special delegation of grassroots independent media makers to attend the International Convention of the World Association of Community Broadcasters (AMARC). Organization by the Indymedia Africa Working Group, this delegation will set up an autonomous communication hub that will provide technical training and cooperative media making, organized in a participatory manner. We will then participate strategically in the AMARC gathering.

The Indymedia Africa Working Group has been organizing since 2002 and has held five of these convergences. This one is especially exciting since the collaboration with AMARC promises to open up incredible opportunities in the realm of innovative uses of radio for community organizing.

Many of our delegates cannot afford their own transportation without help; our solidarity travel fundraising aims to enable all delegates to travel without regard to income differences.

Do you think you could help us raise this money? Tax-deductible donations can be made through Deep Dish TV at http://tinyurl.com/indyaccra2015

Any gift will help. However, your organization, family or media collective could help us especially by sponsoring one delegate (costs range from $200 to $2000) or a country's delegates (costs range from $1,000 to $5,000). If you think this is something you could tackle, please email imc-africa@riseup.net and we can send you more information.

Here is more details about the convergence itself:

… we are adding to this document as we go!

We are trying to raise these funds by July 27. Time is tight, but there is still time to make a difference as to how many African delegates can attend. Please help if you can!

Many thanks in advance for anything you can do, and for all your work.
