When: Wednesday, April 25 at 2:00pm

We have two easy foreclosure cases for Wells Fargo to consider. In both cases, the bank can rid itself of a distressed property, prevent a property from being vacant for months or years, save the costs of preparing and marketing properties, AND KEEP TWO HOMEOWNERS IN THEIR HOMES. WELLS FARGO, DO THE RIGHT THING.

MARCIA IZA

Marcia Iza suffered domestic violence at the hands of husband. Now it appears that Wells Fargo wants to abuse her as well. She lives with her daughter, and though the mortgage with Wells Fargo at 3066 N. Nottingham, Chicago, IL, is in her husband’s name, she provided the money for monthly mortgage payments. After years of abuse, she filed for divorce. Unbeknownst to Marcia, her husband maliciously stopped making payments on her home. When she finally discovered his spiteful acts, she contacted Wells Fargo, but bank officials refused to discuss the case with her because her name was not on the mortgage, although the house title is in her name through a quit claim deed. While struggling with the divorce, Marcia hired an attorney to negotiate a settlement with Wells Fargo. He charged $450, then disappeared with the money, and apparently never even discussed the case with Wells Fargo. Then Marcia received a letter from Wells Fargo informing her that her home would be auctioned. In recent months, Marcia and her daughter have been harassed continually by bank agents, to the point where they are both afraid to answer their front door and are suffering from frequent crying spells, sleepless nights and nervous tension. This is a particularly urgent case because Marcia may be forced out of her home as soon as early May.

This is a simple case for Wells Fargo to resolve. Marcia wants to purchase the home at market value – the same price for which Wells Fargo would eventually sell the home. This will save Wells Fargo the embarrassment of further abusing a mother and her daughter who have already suffered years of domestic violence, while also helping to maintain the stability of the neighborhood by avoiding yet another vacant building. WELLS FARGO, THIS IS AN EASY CHOICE. DO THE RIGHT THING!!

NORMA AMAR

My name is Norma Amar and I have lived in Albany Park, Chicago, for 34 years. My home is 4642 North Springfield Avenue, near many of my brothers and aunts. My four sons and daughters were raised in Albany Park. I am proud to have two sons that served in the US military. Eduardo joined the US Army after high school and served seven and half years. Erwin joined the US Navy and was named best recruiter in Chicago by Mayor Daley in 2004. He served 20 years and is now retired. We purchased our home in 1994 and never had any late payments for 14 years until the recession hit in 2008. My mortgage was switched over to American Home Mortgage Servicing (AHMS). We applied for a loan modification three times and were denied each time as American Home Mortgage Servicing claimed that the files I sent were incomplete. (I have proof and receipts of all the files that I sent before the deadlines set by AHMS.) This is a common tactic used by some financial companies and I’m disappointed that Wells Fargo would be associated with such a dishonorable act. I tried to contact Wells Fargo but they denied any record of my home, even after I received notice that Wells Fargo owned my home. The house was recently put up for auction WITHOUT any notice to my family.

Wells Fargo, this is another easy choice. Norma’s daughter is willing to purchase the home. This will save Wells Fargo the embarrassment of dislocating a long time resident with a proud family from her home, while also helping to maintain the neighborhood stability by avoiding yet another senseless vacant building. DO THE RIGHT THING WELLS FARGO AND LET NORMA STAY IN HER HOME.

As residents of Albany Park, we are fed up with government bailouts for banks that lie, cheat and steal! We join communities across Chicago to defend housing as a human right! Enough is enough! More than 300 homes in Albany Park are in the process of foreclosure. It's time to defend homeowners, stop bank abuse, and demand an immediate moratorium on foreclosures.

NO MORE PUBLIC BAILOUTS FOR ABUSIVE BANKS!

NO MORE BANK LIES!

NO MORE FORECLOSURES!
