During the overnight hours of Saturday, December 17, 2011 and Sunday, December 18, 2011, the tech team for Chicago Indymedia will switch the Chicago Indymedia website to a new software base, one powered by the Drupal content management system.
The look and functionality of the overall website will be markedly
different, but the same accommodations will remain -- for example, our open publishing newswire, posting media and Otherpress, featured stories, and RSS feeds of all content. However, we'll also add in new features such as social media sharing options, a blog of quick alerts and updates of interest to CIMC users, and a calendar of events and actions of interest to CIMC users.
The content of the previous version of Chicago Indymedia's website will still be available through a different URL linked on the new CIMC website, though users will NO LONGER
be able on the previous website to either add new content or post comments to existing content. Also, personal individual accounts on Chicago Indymedia's previous website will not transfer to the new website, so users who wish to use accounts will have to create new accounts on the new website.
