James Harden's release after 20 years wrongful imprisonment
James Harden, wrongfully sent to prison as a teenager, is shown
here walking free last Friday after nearly 20 years behind bars, and making his first statement since being freed.
Harden was falsely arrested for rape and murder at age 17 based upon the Dixmoor, IL Police-coerced confessions and testimony of two other teenagers, even though DNA evidence showed he did not commit the crime.
Harden and his half-brother, Jonathan Barr, and three others arrested as teens were finally cleared on November 3, 2011. The real perpetrator of the 1991 crimes Harden and the other young men were convicted of continued to victimize people for several years afterwards.
