OCTOBER 2011 is the 10th anniversary of the United States invasion of Afghanistan ― America’s longest war ― the “good war” that President Obama counter-posed to President Bush’s “bad war” in Iraq.

Few people in the world now see the Afghanistan war as any better than the criminal war on Iraq, and the Wikileaks revelations have shown the deep cynicism and contempt for human rights that is the driving force behind U.S. foreign policy in every region, regardless of presidential administration.

The overwhelming majority of Afghanis are sick of the death and destruction in their country and want the U.S. out now. The American war on Afghanistan is bankrupting the U.S., with soaring military budgets and record deficits since 911, and the hollowing out of jobs-producing industries and social services. Yet the callous response from many politicians to these problems has been to scapegoat working people – immigrants, teachers, and public sector workers in general.

It is urgent that people concerned with peace and justice demand and organize a genuine alternative to the broken promises and lies of politicians from both major parties.

With that in mind, we invite all concerned with these issues to endorse a march on Obama 2012 National Campaign Headquarters in Chicago on the 10th anniversary of America’s longest war beginning at 12 noon, Saturday, October 8 at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Congress Parkway demanding:

U.S./NATO Out of Afghanistan NOW!

We invite your community, student, religious, political or labor group to endorse and participate in this event.

More information about the action can action can be found at www.ChicagoMassAction.org

i. Organize as many of your own members as possible to attend the October 8th march and associated activities.

ii. Publicize the October 8th march and associated activities to your group's members and others thru emails, Facebook messages, blogging, tweeting, webpage postings and distribution of posters, stickers, flyers and handbills. Join the Facebook event and invite your FB friends!

iii. If you are not in the Chicago area, please organize with your local transportation center to get people in your area to attend the October 8th events. Please contact us at CCAWR@aol.com for suggestions on how to organize one!

iv. Make a financial contribution to the October 8th events. Local organizations are asked to contribute $35 or more, and national organizations with Midwest chapters are asked to contribute $50 or more. Lack of financial resources are not to be a barrier to sponsorship. For groups with very limited means or that lack a treasury, we suggest "passing the hat" at one of your meetings and have that collection constitute your group's contribution.

Checks should be made payable to "8th Day Center for Justice" and mailed to:

CCAWR
