Chicago Independent Television is the monthly television series of the Chicago Independent Media Center.

* CHICAGO PROTESTS CRAWFORD COAL PLANT

The Crawford Generating Station in Chicago's Little Village Neighborhoodis a coal-burning power plant that has come under criticism for its practices that damage the environment and endanger public health. In response to such practices, a group of Chicago activists staged a dramatic protest at the plant.

Chicago honored the 125th anniversary of May Day with a rally and march in support of worker and immigrant rights.

In this segment, we'll hear from education activists in Rochester, New York, who sent messages of support to Chicago, warning about the new Chicago School District CEO, Jean-Claude Brizard.

WHO WE ARE:
We are the Chicago Indymedia Video Collective. We operate along the same lines as Indymedia, fostering the same ideals and processes. We are a collective of media producers, activists, videographers and concerned citizens offering your alternative to mainstream corporate coverage of local and international events, movements and expression. In the summer of 2003 the idea of an independent television show, free from corporate bias and serving the needs of the community, was conceived.
