The U.S. Boat to Gaza-Chicago Network invites you to join us for a vigil outside of the Israeli Consulate to honor the nine Turkish volunteers that were murdered on May 31, 2010 when the Israeli military attacked the Mavi Marmara in international waters as it was sailing to Gaza to deliver much needed aid.


Please bring Palestinian (or Turkish) flags or a poster. Suggested posters include: U.S. Boat to Gaza, Audacity of Hope, Freedom Flotilla II, Break the Siege on Gaza, Chicago to Gaza, Stay Human—End the Siege on Gaza.

SAILING ON THE U.S. BOAT TO GAZA


On May 31, 2010, Israel carried out a lethal assault on a flotilla of boats carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza. As this tragic anniversary approaches, Freedom Flotilla 2 prepares to sail to Gaza. People from Algeria, Canada, France, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey will make the voyage in more than a dozen vessels. People from across the United States will be joining them on the U.S. boat, The Audacity of Hope.


The people of Gaza live in a state of siege. We will not be silent. Our boat will deliver a message of solidarity and hope. Our cargo will be thousands of letters of support from U.S. civil society, addressed To Gaza With Love.


As part of our remembrance ceremony we will have a press conference where we will introduce the two experienced Chicago activists that will be passengers on The Audacity of Hope to the local news media.
