Is a Meltdown Possible in Illinois?
Dave Kraft, Executive Director of the Chicago-based, Nuclear Energy Information Service spoke at Third Unitarian Church on the West Side about nuclear reactors in Illinois similar to those damaged in Japan and the looming possibility of a similar disaster.
Illinois bears the dubious distinction of being the state in the U.S. with the most nuclear reactors and also the most nuclear waste. Given the inconceivably long-term, catastrophic results of any major nuclear "accident," Dave Kraft, of the Nuclear Energy Information Service in Chicago surveys the present nuclear status quo in Illinois and offers a grim look at the dangers inherent the nuclear industry and possible threats to the environment and people of Illnois.
Kraft spoke at Third Unitarian Church in Chicago on Sunday, March 27, 2011, just over a week before he is scheduled to make a presentation to Governor Quinn who is reviewing nuclear power in Illinois in light of the Fukushima disaster this month in Japan.
