Critical Mass Arrests

Chicago police stop peaceful ride, arrest riders.
Last night's 119th Chicago Critical Mass ride was stopped after about two hours and 11 miles by the Chicago Police Department. CPD used cars and ATV-mounted officers to slow bike riders and direct the flow of the ride to the intersection of South Canal and West Roosevelt. When the head and tail of the ride was effectively blocked by the CPD, arrests began. At least 3, possibly more, cyclists were removed from their bikes by CPD and locked in a paddy wagon.

The ride was stopped at Canal and Roosevelt for about 30 minutes, with some riders dispersing west between CPD vehicles and buildings, and others moving north.
