Living wage opponent collects millions from Chicago taxpayers
Supporters of living wages for Chicago retail workers will release a report on Tuesday about Target stores in Chicago that shows the enormous tax benefits stores that oppose the living wage ordinance reap in Chicago.
What: Supporters of living wages for Chicago retail workers will release a report about Target stores in Chicago. The report will be distributed at the press conference, and a large display of a major report finding will be featured.
Who: The Living Wage Coalition, a group 35 organizations committed to fighting for living wages for working people in Chicago, will release the report. Those speaking at the press conference include:
Denise Dixon, south side resident and member of Chicago ACORN; Flora Johnson, a personal assistant and former Jewel employee; Marina Martinez, member of UFCW Local 881 (Spanish-speaking source); Travis Stein, Research Analyst with the Neighborhood Capital Budget Group (Available for questions on research.)
