Re: May 1st posters…

Mexican Immigration Policy for GUATEMALAN IMMIGRANTS

as reported by
Amnesty International

while Mexico cries foul on us immigration policies, lets look at how
THEY handle illegal immigration from Guatemala to their south.....

The federalizes apprehend the immigrants at the boarded if possible, or shortly after the Guatemalans are trucked to the boarder in cattle trucks where the federalizes strip them naked, then beat them senseless and drag them back across the boarder.

When the federalies where questioned about this practice they responded , these peons need to be taught a lesson, how dare they violate our boarders. they have no rights here. and we can do what ever we want.

this practice has gone on for years despite the objections of
Amnesty International and other human rights organizations there have been countless deaths and injuries associated with this inhumane treatment.

Re: May 1st posters…

listen, just my two cents, 4437 is an outright fascist law. give it a read, like i have.

secondly, it will affect all of the undocumented immigrants (and many more people, including immigrants with citizenship, doctors, lawyers, and many others) from countries all over the world.

and thirdly, the Mexicans living here do not represent their government. if anything they by and large represent the failure of their government, and the economic and political domination of the US over Mexico.

so while the Mexican treatment of immigrants is messed up, what baring does this have on anything at all? thanks for being irrelevant

Re: May 1st posters…

Residing here without immigration status is not a crime. Sure, it's "illegal," but so is breaching a contract, or rear-ending a car when you were distracted by your kid howling in the back seat.

As a legal matter, "illegal" doesn't carry much opproprium. Your pejorative use of it demonstrates that you attach more weight to it than the law does. And your support for criminalization of undocumented immigrants confirms your agenda.

So, you're an immigrant? Big deal. We're all immigrants here, except for the Natives, and many of these immigrants are descended from Natives (unlike me.)

uracca was correct to call out "my two cents" (probably yet another of your straw man alter egos, or maybe uracca is too. . . ) That the Mexican government has bad immigration policy has no bearing on the humanity of its exiles. That's true of just about every country which has immigrants here.

The U.S. is, and always has been, unique in welcoming immigrants. Other countries, with restrictive immigration policies, think we're nuts.

But that's OK with us native-born Americans. We think their immigration policies are nuts. We're xenophiles, not xenophobes.

"We're all immigrants here, except for the Natives, and many of these immigrants are descended from Natives (unlike me.)"

Nope, they came from Asia, across the Behring Strait. The real natives here are the racoons and the cougars. ;)

Re: May 1st posters…

That's an old hypothesis, which is currently being called into question by contemporary human genotype distribution studies.

By that old hypothesis, we're all ultimately immigrants from Africa, which is fine by me, but I don't think that addresses your point, or mine.

We'll see what the science says.
