Carnival for Capitalism and War
Friday, April 1st - April Fools Day
Roughly 40 people met at Haymarket Square for a Carnival for Capitalism and War. The snake march travelled throughout downtown Chicago, making stops to worship McDonalds, Chicago Board of Trade, about a zillion banks, and all the wonderful jewelry shops and sweatshop labor lover hangouts and ending on North Michigan Ave.
Tons of radical cheerleaders, business men, money-clad rich ladies, and even Mrs. Capitalism herself all showed up to let downtown know that we agree...money is more important human life and the war is definitely good for business. We even handed out hundreds of dollars along the way just to show that we've got it to spare.
Some chants included:
War, it fills our pockets - thanks Boeing for the bombs and rockets!
What do we want? Sweatshop labor! How do we want it? Cheap!
Support the War! Buy More Crap!
demonstration was called by the Chicagoland Capitalist Network (formerly the Chicagoland Anarchist Network)
