Our theme will be "$80 Billion for AIDS - NOT for War & Occupation!"
Why march?
--- While both parties plan to vote $80 BILLION+ to fund war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, AIDS in Africa has reached pandemic levels.
--- $80 BILLION more for war, while here in the U.S., anti-gay "abstinence only" sex education and other "faith-based" boondoggles steal funds from programs that used to lead a scientific approach to fighting AIDS. Vital programs for the LGBT community are held hostage by ideologues in the Bush administration.
--- Bush twangs on about "freedom" in Iraq, yet attacks the civil liberties of LGBT people here at home by backing anti-gay constitutional amendments.
The Plan
We will meet at 11 am, SHARP, Saturday, March 19th in front of Cardinal George's residence at the corner of North Avenue & State Streets, Chicago. After tea & crumpets with the Cardinal, we will march down the sidewalk on Lake Shore Drive local and join the main march at Oak Street and Michigan. Carrying banners and signs in proximity to busy Lake Shore Drive, in the richest area of the city, our message will be VERY visible!!
Please help build support for the feeder march by circulating publicity for it. Half-page handbills and 11" x 17" posters are available.
