BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

* End all military occupations!
* Money for people's needs, not for the Pentagon war machine!
* Defend civil liberties and civil rights!
* Stand against racism at home & abroad!

The war which George Bush launched on Iraq with promises of quick victory, has now extended into his second term.

After killing 30-60,000 Iraqi troops during the invasion and 10,000+ civilians since, Bush's half-hearted attempts to win the "hearts and minds" of Iraqis have been replaced with a sledgehammer approach ― the devastating bludgeoning of Falajua. From Palestine to Colombia and Afghanistan to Haiti, occupation, puppet regimes and proxy wars remain the order of the day.

Some will say that the 2004 victory of Bush means that we can't fight back. But the anti-Vietnam War movement ultimately prevailed despite a second Nixon administration. Social justice movements demanded and won important gains.

The anti-war and social justice movements can and must redirect themselves back onto the vivid and dynamic paths they took during the months before the invasion, and then take it a step further. Whether the fight is over defending union rights, winning gay marriage, or stopping the attacks on people of color and the right to choose, the going won't be easy. But the alternative ― a bloodthirsty administration completely unchecked by public protest ― is far worse.

Please join us in mobilizing for counter-inaugural protests here in Chicago and in Washington, DC. The Chicago protest will be at 12 noon, Saturday, January 15th at Federal Plaza (corner of Adams & Dearborn Streets, Chicago). The next organizing meeting for the protest is 2-5 pm, Saturday, November 13 at Access Living, 614 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago. All who want to organize against Bush's foreign and domestic policies are welcome.

The Washington, DC protests will take place on the day of the inauguration, Thursday, January 20th. Bus transportation from Chicago has already been organized. Round trip bus tickets are available for $80 (buses leave at 5 pm, Wednesday from Columbus Drive & Monroe and return on Friday morning).
