May Day in Cabrini Green
Cabrini Residents and Activists Protest Police Brutality
A group of approximately 40, including Cabrini Green residents and local activists, protested police brutality in Cabrini Green today at 6:30 pm.
The neighborhood resembled a locked-down police state as the march took off, with police stationed at the entrances to every building, preventing residents from joining the march.
As usual, the most vocal and energetic contingent in the protest were the children of Cabrini Green, who waved black and red flags and chanted "No justice, no peace, no racist police."
The march stopped outside six Cabrini buildings and speeches were made regarding the recent cases of police brutality in the neighborhood and the history and significance of May Day.
Food Not Bombs served a delicious meal of tacos and other fabulous fair to all who were hungry.
