Hey Coke, Stop Killing Colombian Trade Unionists!
Negotiate fairly with union workers in Colombia and
Chicago!
RALLY & MARCH
Saturday May 3rd, 12:30 pm
Plaza at 18th & Blue Island
(2 blocks east of Ashland in Pilsen)
We will march to the Coca Cola Pilsen bottling
facility at 1440 W. Cermak
Demand that Coca-Cola protect workers and their rights
at home and abroad!
In the past 12 years 8 Colombian Coca-Cola workers
have been murdered because they sought to improve
working conditions at Coca-Cola plants throughout
Colombia. Hundreds more have been tortured or
intimidated into resigning membership in their union.
We demand that Coca-Cola force its Colombian
distributors to recognize workers rights and stop the
repression against union activists.
Meanwhile members of Teamsters Local 744 in Chicago
who work for Coca-Cola are negotiating a new contract.
Union workers in Chicago also deserve fair treatment
by Coca-Cola!
The May 3rd action is sponsored by the Global justice
Committee of Chicago Jobs with justice, the Colombia
Solidarity Committee, Chicagoans for a Peaceful
Colombia, the Nicaragua Solidarity Committee, Students for Social Justice, and the Student Labor Action Project.
