Bill Davis, Vietnam war veteran, longtime labor and anti-war activist and national coordinator of VVAW — Vietnam Veterans Against the War — has died. Davis was a key member for decades in VVAW, begun by military veterans in 1967 to oppose U.S. military intervention in Vietnam, U.S. imperialism more broadly, and to support the rights and needs of veterans. Davis also served as president of Auto Mechanics Union Local 701, which he first joined in 1977, until he retired several years ago, and represented Local 701 in the Chicago Federation of Labor.
