This fall may be the best chance in years to pass legislation to rid Illinois of capital punishment according to ICADP, the Illinois Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. Toward that end, the coalition has been holding a series of forums throughout the state. On the heels of the forum in Brookfield last week, ICADP is holding a forum on the North Side of Chicago featuring different speakers but the same compelling message.

Nathson Fields spent 11 years on death row before being exonerated. Cathy Crino's sister, Stephanie, was murdered in 1995, yet Cathy supports House bills 5687 and 262, as well as Senate bill 3569 that would put Illinois in the group of 15 other states that have done away with capital punishment.

This forum titled: Beyond Repair: True Stories of Illinois' Death Penalty is co-sponsored by the Human Concerns Committee and the Respect Life Committee of St. Clement's Church.
