I'm the owner of a local Chicago furnace repair service and I've noticed there is a wave of green hvac technologies out there that claim to save on energy. Some of these technologies are legit and others aren't. To give you a better example of what I mean is if you look at energy star certified appliances for example, they are not really green at all and here's why. If you think about your coffee maker, microwave, cable box, etc. etc. They all have little lights that stay on 24/7, 365 days a year. It's estimated that 65-70% of our electrical consumption is consumed by all these little lights. Your computer, your phone, your printer, tv, clocks, stoves all have these lights. If they were really green technologies don't you think these would turn themselves off or have an option to turn them off? Just my 2 cents.
