I hope your New Year has been treating you well and everyone is working towards manifesting all of your dreams in this New Year. We have big Plans for you this year so Hold Tight and Get Ready! This month, we celebrate the history of African people on this continent with Julius The Mad Thinker. Next month we have a special treat for you as Uhuru Afrika meets Jump 'n Funk with DJ Rich Medina! As I said, get ready!!!!!!!
Pics from our last party
This month we celebrate the history of the African people on the North American continent, a new land for them. Brought here by force during the atrocious slave trade” we still blame Somalia for selling us out” . Still, when freed, the African on this continent faced harsh adversity. Even to this very day, hundreds of years later, there is not full freedom and equality. That said, on this night, we will be celebrating a people with the ability to remain strong-hearted and rooted. Like the tree rooted by the water, able to weather storm. We celebrate the lack of a culture saved but we can pretend, the enbarrisments and the failures and leaders and lessons of a people who decided that by all means necessary, they would be idle.
Tonight we will also be celebrating the return of our good friend Julius 'The Mad Thinker'. A day short of one year since the last time he blessed our party and laid down one amazing rhythmic set. Check out the video below for proof! Tonight, we celebrate the release of his latest composition 'Dejame' and the accompanying Music Video! The video for 'Dejame' will Premier at exactly 11pm sharp so get there early!
>Side Note: The Adinkra Symbol from West Africa that is pictured tattooed on the wrist of the hand on our flyer for this month is 'Aya' The Fern. The symbolism refers to endurance and resourcefulness
The fern is a hardy plant that can grow in difficult places. "An individual who wears this symbol suggests that he has endured many adversities and outlasted much difficulty." (Willis, The Adinkra Dictionary)
