Beyond the Rhetoric: What everyone needs to know about the current realities of the Israeli Occupation and prospects for a just resolution in Israel/Palestine---A Fundraiser for the Palestine Solidarity Project
At La Decima Musa, 1901 S. Loomis
Saturday, November 7
7pm - Bekah Wolf, co-founder of the Palestine Solidarity Project speaks
9pm - Celebrate resistance! Music from local groups (TBA) and Chicago youth perform hip hop
Proceeds will benefit the Center for Freedom and Justice, a community center in Beit Ommar that seeks to serve the residents of Beit Ommar and the surrounding areas. By providing classes in English, photography/videography, computer and website skills, and media training, along with workshops in legal rights and non-violent direct action, the Center is designed to develop the skills of local Palestinian men, women, girls and boys so that they can most effectively communicate with an international audience about their lives and experiences, and address the severe conditions they face under Israeli Occupation strategically and with unity.
The Center, once running at full capacity and with the help of international volunteers, will be able to serve hundreds of rural Palestinians by providing them with skills that they have requested. It is organized by a team of dedicated residents of Beit Ommar and hopes to add two full-time staff people in the near future to help with its daily operations.
