I saw a pro-repression rally outside Truman College at 6pm today. There was a crowd of 30-60 people, most of them were white and appeared to be middle class. They were holding signs that called for more police repression in Uptown. The white yuppies are new to the neighborhood and are displacing long-time residents of Uptown, most of whom are people of color, have little income and are the targeted by the police. Next time yuppies hold a protest begging for police repression we must hold a counter-protest. The organizers of the protest have a website called Uptown Update.
