Chicago Independent Television for August: Copwatch Protest, Tamms Mud Stenciling, Felony Franks Revisited

Chicago Independent Television is proud to announce that our episode for August 2009 marks our 50th episode since our debut in 2004. We want to thank everyone who contributed and who helped us along the way.

ON THE SHOW THIS MONTH:

The Chicago lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police recently held a reunion party to commemorate police veterans who took part in acts of brutality in the 1960s. The group Chicago Copwatch protested this police malfeasance, as we see in this two-part segment.

Tamms is a maximum-security prison compound in southern Illinois, which has gained increasing attention for brutality and torture. Activists joined up with Chicago-area artists for an innovative publicity campaign involving "mud stenciling":

A Chicago hot dog stand named Felony Franks seeks to bring ex-felons back to work. In this segment, we visit the grand opening of this unique hot dog stand and learn why a local alderman opposes the name.

In the summer of 2003 the idea of an independent television show, free from corporate bias and serving the needs of the community, was conceived. Chicago Independent Television is the result of that movement.

Our mission is to provide YOUR CORPORATE NEWS ALTERNATIVE.
