AJLPP MOBILIZES FOR MARCH FOR FULL IMMIGRANT RIGHTS US-WIDE ON MAY 1

The Alliance Philippines (AJLPP) calls on all immigrant right advocates and activists all over the United States to MARCH FOR FULL RIGHTS FOR ALL IMMIGRANTS! AMNESTY NOW! On May 1, 2009.

The AJLPP Coordinators Arturo P. Garcia from the West Coast and East Coast Coordinator Riya Ortiz announced that the Filipino-American contingent composed of students, youth, women, domestic workers, veterans and community activists will join protest marches in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.

In Los Angeles, AJLPP forces and allies will assemble at PEOPLE’S CORE on 1610 Beverly Blvd, Suite No. 2 Los Angeles, CA 90026 in Historic Filipinotown from 11:30 AM to 12:00 noon and proceed to assembly area in Broadway and Olympic, where the march starts at 1.00 PM

Los Angeles—The Alliance Philippines (AJLPP) calls on all immigrant right advocates and activists all over the United States to MARCH FOR FULL RIGHTS FOR ALL IMMIGRANTS! AMNESTY NOW! On May 1, 2009.

The AJLPP Coordinators Arturo P. Garcia from the West Coast and East Coast Coordinator Riya Ortiz announced that the Filipino-American contingent composed of students, youth, women, domestic workers, veterans and community activists will join protest marches in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago.

The AJLPP with ANSWER Coalition encourages everyone to come out on Friday, May 1 for a Mass March and Rally for immigrant rights in downtown Los Angeles. The May 1 March & Rally sponsored by the Full Rights for Immigrants Coalition composed of the: Latino Movement USA, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP), Coalition for the Defense of immigrant Rights (CDIR),Kabataang maka-Bayan (KmB), Echo Park Community Coalition (EPCC), Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV).

Another march-rally led by the Pilipino Workers Center (PWC), Association of Filipino Workers (AFW) and Gabnet-LA, allied groups of the AJLPP will march from Echo Park to Placita Olvera in downtown LA at 1:00 P. M. The group with the MIWON and labor unions is a part of five groups marching separately in Los Angeles.

In San Francisco, AJLPP forces will join the ANSWER Coalition in San Francisco in mobilizing immigrant rights advocates and immigrants for their democratic demands. Several immigrant rights groups are conducting their own mass actions in the Bay Area.

East Coast and Midwest

In New York, the AJLPP will join the Immigrant Communities in Action (ICA) rally at Union Square. The march will assemble and kick off at 5:00 PM at the Southeast Corner Union Square at 14th Street. AJLPP groups DAMAYAN Migrant Workers Association, UGNAYAN Youth and the GABNET-Mariposa Alliance (MA-AL) will lead the Filipino American contingent.

In Chicago, the Alliance of Filipino Immigrants for Reform and Empowerment (AFIRE) and the Committee on Filipino Issues (CPI) will lead the Filipino American community in march-rallies in Chicago in the Midwest United States. It was in Chicago, Illinois in March 10, 2006 where the signal fire for immigrant rights upsurge against HR 4437 started. More than 500,000 people attended the rally for full immigrant rights there.
