CALL TO ACTION: Jews oppose Israel Solidarity Day
A Jewish counter-demonstration to Chicago's Israel Solidarity Day/ Walk with Israel events
Sunday, May 3 at 10am
WHAT: A Jewish counter-demonstration to Chicago's Israel Solidarity Day/ Walk with Israel events. Please wear black to express mourning.
WHO: Anti-Zionist and anti-occupation Jewish people
WHEN: Sunday, May 3rd at 10am
WHERE: Meet up at Gill Park, on the corner of W. Sheridan and N. Broadway. If you need a ride from the South Side, please email us.
WHY: As Jews it is our responsibility to counter the idea that there is only one Jewish voice. The occupation of Palestinian land has been going on for 61 years. We believe that violence and displacement are not Jewish values. The razing of 531 villages for the creation of Israel; the 1967 occupation of East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza; the continued expansion of settlements; the building of a wall twice the height of the Berlin Wall; economic strangulation; the recent deaths of 1,400 Gazans…
THESE ARE NOT THINGS TO CELEBRATE!
It is not anti-Semitic to question Israel's actions and its existence as a Jewish state. We hold out hope for a Jewish culture based on justice, and committed to freedom and self-determination for all people.
Please join us in taking a stand!
