This Earth Day, consider making a *huge* difference in cleaning up our environment - cleaning up the two largest single sources of pollution in Chicago - the Fisk and Crawford coal-fired power plants.

PERRO (the Pilsen Environmental Rights and Reform Organization) along with residents and other groups will hold a candlelight vigil outside the Fisk coal-fired power plant in Pilsen (at 1111 W. Cermak Rd.) to remember the over 40 people per year that die prematurely due to the pollution that comes from the Fisk and Crawford plants in Chicago.

The vigil will be held on Wed. April 29 at 8PM at the Fisk coal-fired power plant, 1111 W. Cermak Rd. Candles will be provided if you do not have your own.

The vigil is also a call to Mayor Daley to support the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance (which he currently does not) that would clean up Chicago's two coal-fired power plants by 90%. Aldermen have said that they will not call the ordinance for a vote unless Mayor Daley supports it.

In February of 2003 Chicago residents that live closest to the two plants, residents in Pilsen and Little Village, voted 90% in favor of passing the Chicago Clean Power Ordinance in an advisory referendum that appeared on the ballot.

Este Día de la Tierra, consideren la posibilidad de una verdadera diferencia en la limpieza de nuestro entorno - la limpieza de las dos mayores fuentes de contaminación en Chicago - el Fisk y Crawford centrales eléctricas alimentadas con carbón.

La vigilia es también una llamada aL alcalde Daley de Chicago para que apoye la ordenanza de energía limpia que  limpiaria las dos centrales eléctricas de Chicago alimentadas con carbón en un 90%. Concejales han dicho que no van a llamar a la ordenanza para que se someta a votación a menos que el Alcalde Daley la apoye.

En febrero de 2003 los residentes de Chicago que viven más (próximas) PROXIMOS a las dos plantas, los residentes de Pilsen y La Villita, el 90% votó a favor de la aprobación de la Ordenanza de Energía Limpia de Chicago en un referéndum consultivo que apareció en la boleta electoral.
