EFCA: BIG BUSINESS Talks Compromise after WSJ reports EFCA Doesn't Remove "Secret Ballot"

Employee Free Choice Act EFCA: "We have had conversations with like-minded companies and are open to exploring alternative solutions to the legislation as it is currently written," Starbucks spokeswoman Deb Trevino said.

WASHINGTON (EFCA/ APWire News) — One day after the Wall Street Journal admitted that the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) “The bill doesn't remove the secret-ballot option from the National Labor Relations Act,” - Starbucks Corp. and other companies are exploring alternatives to a bill that would make it easier for workers to unionize, but the idea of any compromise drew the wrath of business groups lobbying furiously to defeat the measure.

Officials at the coffee giant would not discuss exactly what alternatives to the Employee Free Choice Act the companies are considering, but confirmed late Friday that the company is "engaged in dialogue" on the topic.

"We have had conversations with like-minded companies and are open to exploring alternative solutions to the legislation as it is currently written," Starbucks spokeswoman Deb Trevino said.

A person familiar with the discussions said the other companies exploring alternatives include food seller Whole Foods Market Inc. and retailer Costco Wholesale Corp. The person spoke only on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the negotiations.

Labor officials are very excited about this Wall Street Journal editorial published Friday morning that, while highly unfavorable to the Employee Free Choice Act, concedes an important point of debate.

In addition now that big name companies such as Starbucks Corp, Whole Foods Market Inc. and retailer Costco Wholesale Corp are now talking compromise and going against and distancing themselves from Corporate Front Groups such as The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and Chamber of Commerce positions only shows the FEAR and Intimidation campaign by these Corporate Front Groups are not working as the REAL TRUTH is revealed which is “The bill doesn't remove the secret-ballot option from the National Labor Relations Act,”

To this point, millions of dollars in campaign and advertising cash have been spent by The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and their public relations firm Navigators Global, declaring that EFCA would in fact take away a worker’s right to a secret ballot. ( A LIE EXPOSED by the Wall Street Journal)

Most memorable were the spots of mobbed-up-looking union bosses ( Johnny Sacks Sopranos)created by The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and their public relations firm Navigators Global, peering over a worker’s shoulder as he voted. In granting that these arguments are misleading, the Journal has rescinded an important tool in the debate.
