AIUSA Midwest Regional Office and a local coalition of partners (see list in development below) are having a one hour rally to demand Justice for the Women of Atenco. We are asking the participants wear red in support of International Women's Day. In May 2006, following a police crackdown on protests by a peasant ogranization in San Salvador Atenco, Mexico, over 45 women were arrested without explanation, dozens were subjected to physical, psychological and sexual violence by the police. More than 2 years later, none of teh officials responsible for their abuse have been prosecuted. The Women of Atenco is also the Midwest Special Focus Case as part of Amnesty International USA's Individuals at Risk Campaign. For more information about the rally call 312-427-2060 or email aiusamw (at) aiusa.org
