Callout for an Organized Labor Bloc for March 14 peace rally

My name is Neal Rysdahl. I am a member of the Chicago branch of the Industrial Workers of the World(IWW). I am calling out for an organized labor block at the peace rally/march on March 14.
The only rational response to a global recession is to promote more militant direct action at the point of production (work stoppage, work slowdown, sabotage, occupation of job sites, etc). The employers of Republic Windows and Doors showed us an example of working class people managing ourselves. The common people create all wealth. If we didn't show up to work at our jobs every day, our employers would not make a profit from our labor. The social-economic power we have can only be realized when we stop being the silent majority. The business class set up the Electoral College system to make free and fair elections impossible. However, when ordinary people unite as a basic social-economic force, we can still make our voices heard.

At a time when our self-appointed political representatives are trying to whip up more reactionary nationalist hysteria, we need to mobilize other North American workers to stand in solidarity with workers in Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Workers should not kill other workers. Working class people can choose to join with each other around the world. We don't need to accept the double-standard of capitalist globalization. If Capital does not recognize any borders or boundaries, surely labor should not do so either. The employing class tries to get documented workers and undocumented workers to fight among ourselves. Rank-and-file labor union members can respond to these divide-and-conquer tactics by organizing in support of immigrant workers. An injury to one is an injury to all. As we organize more unorganized workers, we liberate ourselves, and each other.

Let's meet with other labor union organizers at 12:00 noon at Cermak Road and Marshall Boulevard, (two blocks from the California stop on the pink line). I will close with a quote from the preamble to the IWW constitution:

"The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace as long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life. Between those two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth"
