The Living Classroom
with Chris Bache
A Public Lecture and Workshop
Sponsored by the Chicago Community Group of the Institute of Noetic Sciences
February 27 & 28, 2009
“For reasons we don’t yet understand,
the tendency to synchronize
is one of the most pervasive drives in the universe.”
Steven Strogatz, Sync
CHI-IONS presents Chris Bache, award-winning teacher, author and an educator for the 21st Century. He has contributed important, pioneering work to our understanding of the subtle collective dynamics that develop in classrooms and other intentional groups. His book, The Living Classroom, published in 2008, is the result of this pioneering work.
Bache combines scientific research with personal accounts collected over thirty years to examine subtle influences or cognitive resonances that spring up between teachers and students in the classroom. These subtle influences are often overlooked by traditional academics, but occur too frequently to be dismissed as mere coincidence. He then explores the emergence of fields of consciousness and the importance of field theory to education.
