The Revolutionary Politics of Malcolm X

Special Guest Speaker: Lee Sustar
Frequent contributor to the International Socialist Review and Counterpunch.org and journalist for Socialist Worker and SocialistWorker.org

In the early 1960s, Malcolm X came to represent militant opposition to racism in the United States. In the last year of his life Malcolm went further, embracing revolutionary politics and identifying the African American movement with Third World liberation struggles. Today, the election of the first Black president in U.S. history marks how much the world has changed. But racism persists in jobs, housing, education and the criminal “injustice” system that targets minorities and the poor. What lessons do the radical politics of Malcolm X have for a new generation that wants to fight for justice and against oppression? Come to this UIC International Socialist Club forum to discuss.
