6th Anniversary of Iraq Invasion -- Citywide Meeting to Plan Anti-War Action(s)
The 6th anniversary of the Iraq invasion rolls around this March. We'll have a new president — and the U.S.-bankrolled devastation of Gaza, an ongoing U.S. military occupation in Iraq, a troop surge into Afghanistan, and a pledge by the new president to increase the size of the U.S. military.

One of last year's protests in Chicago on the 5th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq.
Tax dollars that AREN'T funding war and occupation abroad are going to bail out banks and big business leaders at home — but not the working people who are bearing the brunt of the current economic crisis. Immigrants' rights remain under attack, economic inequality is mounting, veterans' care is a national disgrace, and local communities are contending with severe problems that range from mass home foreclosures to environmental degradation.
Clearly, the anti-war movement has a lot of work to do — and now more than ever that includes connecting the dots between the war on peoples' well-being and dignity at home and U.S. government-sponsored imperial wars abroad.
Join us on Saturday, January 10 from 3 pm to 6 pm at St. Pius Church, 1919 S. Ashland (wheelchair accessible — just south of the church's main entrance) on Chicago's near south side to plan Chicago's response to the 6th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the economic and social ills that stem from war and occupation.
This is an open planning meeting for all who want to discuss and propose action(s) in the run-up to this March — and beyond — including our demands and program of action.
