Successful actions on Sat and Sun for real change and justice
There were lively and successful rallies and marches on Saturday (Federal Plaza, with a march with bullhorns along State Street) and on Sunday (rally in Hyde Park down the street from Obama's house and then a march with bullhorn along the 53rd street and through the commercial strip). Endorsers included 8th Day Center for Justice, Chicago Coalition Against War and Racism, Chicago Labor Against the War, Chicago Peace Vigil-Art Institute, Chicago World Can't Wait, Committee to Free the Cuban 5, Gay Liberation Network, Lone Lantern, Neighbors for Peace, North Side Greens, West Side Greens, UIC Campus Anti-war Network.
Passing people and motorists in both actions gave thumbs up, honks, or other expressions of support.
I think this shows that people are receptive and that we are not politically isolated. This shows that those who said this could not be done, or should not be done, at this time, either have not done enough work among the broad masses of the people or that they do not want to demand that the president-elect take up peace and justice. --Neal
