FROM STONEWALL TO PROPOSITION 8:
THE STRUGGLE FOR LGBT LIBERATION
On June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in New York, gays and lesbians fought back against a government-sponsored system that persecuted
homosexuals, and marked the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement.
On November 15, 2008, tens of thousands protested in over 300 cities across the country in support of equal marriage rights for all, after the passage of Proposition 8 in California. The LGBT community and supporters are gearing up for a continued struggle for civil rights.
Join us for an evening of discussion and debate, with a special panel of LGBT rights activists including: Sherry Wolf – author of the forthcoming book Gay Liberation and Socialism, and others to be announced.

SON OF NUN is a political hip-hop artist and activist from Baltimore, MD. He has performed with such artists as the Coup, Dead Prez, Tom
Morello and Immortal Technique. His music has appeared on the Peace Not War compilations with artists like Jurassic 5, Ani DiFranco and Anti-Flag, and he has also been featured on Chuck D's radio show "On the Real." His latest album, The Art of Struggle, is, in his own words, "a political album that encompasses my perspective on a lot of different issues: from immigrant rights to the death penalty to the way that children are impacted most by issues like debt on the African
continent... and also pride for the rebels that are in my heritage..." It is available for listen and purchase at
