Screening new films about pollution in Pilsen: July 31

Join community members and PERRO (pilsenperro.org) for a film screening and discussion this Thursday of student projects about Pollution in Pilsen and views in the community about the problem. A discussion will will follow the films.

Thursday, July 31, 6.30PM, Casa Aztlan, 1831 S. Racine, 2nd Floor. Refreshments will be provided.

Please join us on Thursday, July 31st, for a free film screening at Casa Aztlan in Pilsen.
Christopher Wiersema, a film major from Columbia College here in Chicago, and Sarah Trowbridge, an environmental sociology major from Whitman College from Walla Walla, Washington, will premier their two short documentaries about pollution in Pilsen.

“Monsters in Pilsen" 27 mins Christopher Wiersema
A documentary observing the industrial politics and the environmental and health effects in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Exploring the environmental injustices and struggles against Fisk Generating Station and H. Kramer & Co.

“Pollution in Pilsen” 15 mins Sarah Trowbridge
A documentary that focuses on the social effects of pollution through personal interviews with residents of Pilsen. The film will feature Pilsen residents and their experiences with the effects of the heavy industrial pollution that surrounds the neighborhood.
