The Chicago Chapter of Nonviolent Peaceforce [NP] invites you to attend several free events on the topic of Nonviolent Peacekeeping in areas of conflict.
Our special guest-speaker is Mel Duncan, Executive Director of Nonviolent Peaceforce, an international unarmed nonpartisan peacekeeping group presently with field teams in Sri Lanka and Mindanao Philippines. He’ll discuss proven methods of nonviolent peacekeeping as well as share personal stories from the field.
Dr. Ann Frisch, returned peacekeeper from the Nonviolent Peaceforce team in Guatemala, will also be participating.
Events listed below are illustrated presentations unless otherwise noted.
Nonviolent Peaceforce was founded in 2002. Its unarmed peacekeepers protect people in areas of violence around the world by working with local groups in applying effective and proven approaches to peacekeeping that deter violence and protect human rights. NP provides one-on-one accompaniment and community presence serving to: listen to and witness people’s experiences living in conflict, provide protection to people and communities and serve as a non-partisan bridge to understanding and conflict resolution.
