Este foro conmemora el cuadragésimo aniversario del memorable año de 1968 –un año de conflicto, lucha de clases y agitación revolucionaria por todos los rincones del mundo. 1968 presenció la Ofensiva del Tet en Vietnam, la huelga general en Francia, el puño alzado de los atletas negros los juegos olímpicos en México; las luchas de los estudiantes mexicanos y la masacre de la Plaza Tlatelolco, la Primavera de Praga y la invasión de Checoslovaquia, el enfrentamiento de manifestantes y policías en la Convención Demócrata en Chicago, el asesinato de Martin Luther King y los consiguientes disturbios en varias ciudades estadounidense, y el surgimiento del Movimiento Sindical Revolucionario Dodge en Detroit. ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Featuring JOEL GEIER, associate editor of the International Socialist Review. Geier was an organizer in the 1964 Berkeley Free Speech movement, and toured France and Czechoslovakia in 1968 to build international solidarity following the May general strike and Prague Spring protests against the Soviet Union. He is the author of numerous articles including "The coming economic meltdown," "Marxism and war," "Crisis of U.S. imperialism." "Vietnam: The soldier's revolt," "Socialists and movements," "The International Monetary Fund: Debt Cop," and "Contradictions of the miracle economy."

The events of 1968 offer lessons to a new generation of activists and radicals organizing for a better world.
