CHICAGO FUR MART PROTESTS!

So this is what we know so far. The space at 700 N. Michigan where Chicago Fur Mart was located is vacant. When called, the Fur Mart claims that the Chicago Place Mall is closing down and as such they were forced to move immediately and they claim that they will be reopening in a new location in August. We aren't sure how much of that is true, but we are going to be on the lookout and spend the next few weeks seeing if we can find out if they are in fact reopening and if so where.

However, as the store is no longer in operation (at least for now) all the demos at the Chicago Fur Mart are cancelled until further notice. But rest assured, if they re-open, we will be there!

PRISONER WRITING NIGHT

We are combining our monthly prisoner writing nights with another prisoner support/prison abolition group, Chicago Anarchist Black Cross. Feel free to drop by the third Thursday of every month- we supply paper, pens, stamps and addresses.

Time: March 20th (the third Thursday of every month), from 6 - 8 pm.

Place: the lowercase collective, please email us for directions and the exact address.


“HOOT” SCREENING

This month’s movie screening will be a bit more laid back than usual: we’ll be screening the kids’ movie, HOOT. This “soft core ecoterrorism for kids” (www.greenisthenewred.com/blog/2006/05/01/soft-core-eco-terrorism/) screening will also be a discussion on eco-terrorism and the “Green Scare”. Along with a vegan bake sale and plenty of information to take, merch to buy, this event is sure to be fun! Yes, there will be popcorn with earth balance!

How much: No cover charge, goods will be for sale.


ANTI-FUR OUTREACH!

March 30th is the last opera of the season, so we'll be out in full force to remind the wearers of animal flesh where their fur comes from and the cruelty inherent in their so-call "fashion".
