Meet John Beacham
John Beacham, 40, is running for State Representative in Illinois, District 14. He is a candidate of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

Over the past six years, Beacham has helped organize dozens of large street protests against the Iraq war in Los Angeles and Chicago. He organized buses from Chicago to the March 17, 2007, March on the Pentagon and the Sept. 15, 2007, mass die-in and anti-war protest at the White House. Beacham is a volunteer organizer with the ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition in Chicago.
Beacham is active in many social justice struggles. In 2003 and 2005, he organized community support for striking grocery and hotel workers in Los Angeles. Active in the Korea solidarity movement, Beacham was invited to join a November 2005 anti-Bush protest in Busan, Korea. In Busan, he represented the U.S. anti-war movement as a speaker at the main demonstration and appeared on Korean television.
In September 2007 he traveled to Louisiana to march in a mass protest to free the Jena 6. Beacham has also helped organize protests and events for immigrant rights and for same-sex marriage rights for LGBT people.
Beacham is a frequent contributor to Socialism and Liberation Magazine and Liberation Newspaper.
A community college teacher, John Beacham is a member of the National Committee of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
