SATURDAY: Eugene Pincham to Keynote Dr. King Commemorative Service

Civil rights legend Judge R. Eugene Pincham will keynote a Martin Luther King, Jr. commemorative service at 3:30 PM this Saturday, January 26 at Old St. Paul's Missionary Baptist Church, 531 N. Kedzie, Chicago. The event is co-sponsored by Congressman Danny K. Davis and Rev. Paul Jakes, Jr. of Old St. Paul's.

With more than a half century of legal practice under his belt, Pincham has developed a well deserved reputation as an attorney who aggressively tries cases with serious civil rights implications, arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court on three occasions. A fierce critic of the criminal justice system for its mistreatment of racially oppressed groups and the poor, Pincham became a Cook County Court judge in 1976 and later served on the Appellate Court of Illinois. Judge Pincham was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and all present will be requested to pray for his full recovery.

Attorney Thomas N. Todd, former President of Operation P.U.S.H., will introduce Judge Pincham and special tributes to the Rev. Dr. King will be delivered by Senator Ricky R. Hendon and Carl Benson, President of the NAACP for the Westside of Chicago. This event will also present a cadre of others who will share the contributions made and the commitment Dr. King exhibited towards not only the African American community, but to our nation.
