Greeting Monday's Visit by President Bush in the Manner He So Richly Deserves
Those wanting to greet President Bush during his visit to Chicago tomorrow — when he'll meet with Mayor Daley, Cardinal George and a select group of businessmen — are invited to join the Gay Liberation Network, the International Solidarity Movement and others at 11:45 AM in front of the Union League Club at 65 W. Jackson (on Jackson just west of Dearborn.
We're planning a reception worthy of one of the most despised Presidents in U.S. history.
According to
Crain's Chicago Business, "'It will be a rich audience in terms of the level of people,' says
Rich Roberts, the chamber's [of commerce] director of development, who is organizing the event." Yes, really. We may be notorious punsters, but we are
not making this up!
Bush will be yakking about all of the wonderful things he's going to do to help the economy, but of course stopping the billions going to fund Middle East wars won't be among them. So bring a sign and join us if you can!

For those on the north side, CodePINK is organizing an action for when Bush visits a Horace Greeley Elementary School earlier in the day (10:30 AM, 832 West Sheridan Road — about 1 block south of Irving Park Road, just west of Halsted Street). At Horace Greeley he'll be touting the anniversary of his widely-hated "No Child Left Behind" program.
