Where: Outside the Tribune Tower, 435 N. Michigan Ave., downtown Chicago
When: Friday, December 7, 2007 -- from 5pm to 6:30pm
FCC Chair Kevin Martin has been a veritable grinch for media democracy in America. He tirelessly works to give away public media resources to fatcat media moguls.
One of those fatcat media moguls is Sam Zell, who is trying to buy the Tribune. In fact, Zell just got a controversial series of waivers that lets the Tribune keeps its current otherwise-illegal duopolies in five cities nationwide.
Now, Kevin Martin is trying to abolish the long-standing cross-ownership rule which the Tribune has been trying to eliminate, and thus increase concentration in an already concentrated media environment.
But public resistance has been fierce. And Chicago Media Action would like to continue building public resistance -- in song, right in front of the Tribune's home.
Join Chicago Media Action for an event perfect for the holidays, with a round of spirited song protest against the fatcats at the Tribune.
Spread the word. Invite your friends. We look forward to seeing you.
