Journalist and nonviolent activist Anna Baltzer's video presentation of everyday life in Palestine documents the structure and consequences of the Israeli occupation. Shaped by checkpoints, settler violence, house demolitions, the camps, the Wall, and the many other modes of occupation, Palestinian society remains remarkably dynamic and animated by its opposition and resistance, with support from many Israelis and the global peace and justice community. Baltzer's extensive travels in the occupied territories reveal the remarkable courage and optimism of Palestine today.

Open University welcomes Anna Baltzer, a 28-year-old Jewish American Columbia graduate, Fulbright scholar, and the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. She is a three-time volunteer with the International Women's Peace Service, where she documented human rights abuses in the West Bank and supported the nonviolent movement against the Occupation. She has spent most of the past few years in Palestine and on tour. Her new book, Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories (Paradigm Publishers) will be available at this event.
