Leslie James Pickering, author of Mad Bomber Melville and former spokesperson for the Earth Liberation Front, will be giving a release of his new book 7 pm this Saturday, 12/1, at New World Resource Center (Located at 1300 N Western Avenue (Western and Potomac).

Mad Bomber Melville is the new biography of Sam Melville, who was responsible for a spree of devastating dynamite bombings in Manhattan skyscrapers housing corporations and government agencies driving the Vietnam War and who was a key organizer of the famed 1971 Attica Prison uprising where he was killed. Melville’s bombings inspired a flood of revolutionary guerrilla actions in the US during the late 1960s and early 1970s and his organizing at Attica serves as one of the most inspiring examples of cross-racial justice struggles in recent American history.

Author, Leslie James Pickering served as spokesperson for the Earth Liberation Front Press Office from 2000 to 2002 and holds a Master’s degree in history and journalism. At the Mad Bomber Melville book release, he will be discussing the book as well as reading from it and showing a five-minute video of television news clips covering Melville’s actions in 1969. Signed copies of Mad Bomber Melville and Pickering’s earlier book, Earth Liberation Front: 1997-2002, will be available and he will be taking questions from the audience.
