November 29, 2007 marks the 60th anniversary of the United Nations vote to divide Palestine, supposedly into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. There was no consultation before the vote with Palestinians who made up 70% of the population. The UN vote and the war that followed created the state of Israel on 78% of Palestine, made refugees of 750,000 Palestinians, and led to a struggle which continues to the present day. In the 1970s, November 29 was designated “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People” by the UN.
Occupation 101 is a thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the brutal Israeli occupation of Palestine. Join us for a movie showing and discussion. 2006 (85 minutes)
The movie will be shown on a large screen with amplified sound. $5 - $10 donation requested. No one turned away for lack of funds
