Dr. Tans, who was interviewed on The Weather Channel and public media in 2000, said recently that he's more worried now about global warming consequences because of the rapid thaw over the last few years in the Arctic. He also said (Oct 4, 2007 interview with former NOAA National Weather Service hydrologist, Pat Neuman, that models in 2000 had indicated more severe droughts in the sub-tropical latitudes, which seems to be in progress now.

Photos were taken by Pat Neuman during an Oct 4, 2007 interview at the NOAA Building in Boulder.
