The Albany Park, North Park, Mayfair Neighbors for Peace and Justice met on October 17, and we reaffirmed our endorsement of the October 27th demonstration. We did this because we think the demonstration is an important occasion for people to express their sentiments against the Iraq war and wider U.S. wars, and to support the other slogans put forward by the October 27th Organizing Committee. The demonstration is an important opportunity for people to organize themselves and build the movement for peace and justice.

However, we are not at all supportive of the choices of the October 27th Organizing Committee to invite as speakers various Democratic Party politicians who are not truly anti-war, as shown by their statements and votes. We are concerned about the likely negative impact on people who are not clear about the role of these Democrats, of fostering an illusion that the Democratic Party and its members are playing a positive
