UIC-sds Week of action

The Students for a Democratic Society chapter at the University of Illinois at Chicago is having a whole week of actions leading up to the 27th.

Monday 10/22: Remembering the Dead (canceled due to dismemberment by pro-war UIC police officers)
During the 4 year U.S. occupation of Iraq many U.S. soldiers and many more innocent Iraqi civilians have been killed. We will create a monument to the dead on campus.

Also, we are co-sponsoring the film Bus-Riders Union playing at the Hull House at 5:30. Save the CTA!

Tuesday 10/23: Drum Circle for Peace
With shout-outs for solidarity with national liberation movements around the world
Location: the quad
Time: 1:00pm

Wednesday 10/24: Infomatics
Join us for a presentation on Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). We’ll explain who we are, what we do, and antiwar actions our specific chapter has done. Bill Ayers, a leader of SDS during the 60s and a current professor in the UIC Education Department, will talk about the original SDS.
Location: SCE Room 613
Time: 12:00 to 1:00pm

Thursday 10/25: Movie Day
We will be showing Children of Men and discussing the political implications of this movie. Free dinner!
Location: Adams Hall, 2nd Floor
Time: 3:00 to 5:00pm

Friday 10/26: Dance Dance REVOLUTION!
Join us for an Anti-war Rally and a celebration of the Student Movement!
Location: the Quad
Time: 12:00pm

Saturday 10/27: Student Day of Power and Chicago Mass Demonstration
Protest the Iraq War! End the Occupation! Troops Out Now!
Student Feeder March (including the Imperialist Bloc as war satire—Dress up as your favorite Imperialist)
Location: University Center Dorms, 525 S. State St.
Time: assemble at 1:00pm, march at 1:30pm
Then join us in the student contingent in the main march
Location: Randolph & Ashland in Union Park
