No to the transit Cuts, Open the Books, and say "Not on our backs!" before CTA and Pace cuts go into effect.

Please join us for an organizing meeting of the Rider Driver Alliance against cuts in transit service, fare hikes, and layoffs.

There will also be a free showing of the film Bus Riders Union followed by a conversation about CTA, PACE and the Rider Driver Alliance- an alliance of workers who serve the public and the community that rides mass transit and paratransit.

Legendary Academy-Award winning cinematographer Haskell Wexler (Matewan) directs this exhilarating activist documentary that traces three years in the life of Los Angeles' Bus Rider's Union through its moments of joy, crisis, and victory. The film depicts the BRU's fight to improve bus service and halt fare hikes through lawsuits, demonstrations, and sit-ins. The film follows a small band of activists who lobby the city government to purchase more buses and pay bus drivers a higher salary.

Tambien habra' una presentacion gratis de la película Sindicato de Pasajeros y una conversación acerca de la CTA, PACE y la Alianza de Pasajeros y Operadores- una alianza de trabajadores que sirven al público y la comunidad que usa el transporte público y paratransporte.

El cinematógrafo legendario Haskell Wexler (Matewan), quien ganó un Oscar, dirige este documental estimulador de activista que traza tres años en la vida del Sindicato de Pasajeros de Los Angeles' por sus momentos de alegría, crisis y de victoria. La película representa la pelea de BRU para mejorar el servicio de autobuses y frenar a los aumentos del precio del billete por pleitos, por las demostraciones, y por las ocupaciones. La película sigue una pequeña banda de activistas que presionan el gobierno de la ciudad para comprar más autobuses y les paga a conductores de autobús un salario más alto.
