No-Match letters are sent out by the Social Security Administration to businesses for people mistakes in their social security administration. Those businesses in turn use these letters to fire or threaten workers, though the letters clearly state that workers are not to be terminated for these errors. Some 70% of the errors have to do with US citizens, but anti-immigrant elements in the federal government have no problem using the no-match letters to cost undocumented workers their jobs. And the SSA is creating a risk to the security of our Social Security numbers!

Social Security was formed to help workers, not to cause us harm.

There is a hotline to call with issues relating to No-Match, but we would rather not post it on Indymedia so that anti-immigrant groups spam it.

The organizers and endorsers of this protest include the Chicago Workers Collaborative, Comité de Chicago Contra las No-Match, the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the Korean Resource and Cultural Center, the Laborers Chicago District Council, the Latino Organization of the Southwest, the Movimiento 10 de Marzo, the United Electrical Workers, and many other groups and unions

A todos los trabajadores:

Las cartas No-Match de la Administracion del Seguro Social (SSA) le advierten a las campañias de que los numeros del Seguro de sus trabajadores no coinciden con los de archivos. Un 70% de los errores son de ciudadanos estadounidenses. El Departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS), quiere usar estas cartas para obligar a los patrones a despedir trabajadores sin importar su estado migratorio. Y la SSA pone el peligro la privacidad de nuestros numeros del Seguro Social!

La SSA se formo para ayudar y proteger trabajadores, no para hacerles daño.

Demandamos que el Seguro Social proteja nuestra privacidad y deje de mandarle cartas No Match a los patrones.
